Katie Shaffer,

CPM, LM

Katie is a certified professional midwife and a licensed midwife in the state of Idaho. She became licensed by direct apprenticeship in Boise, Idaho and formal study through Mercy in Action College of Midwifery earning her Bachelor of Science in Midwifery. Katie was called to midwifery by her own community birth experience after which she pursued training as a certified birth and postpartum doula, and a childbirth educator. She is on the board of the Idaho chapter of the NACPM and is a member of the Idaho Midwifery Council.

Katie strongly values client autonomy, true informed consent, continuity of care, and specializes in low intervention out of hospital birth. She passionately believes in empowerment in the birth process and feels that low risk birthing families should have the ability to choose where and how they give birth.

In her personal life, Katie has two sons and is married to Matt, her lifetime adventure buddy. She can be found in the mountains camping and hiking with her family, working in her yard, and working on endless house projects.

Tawnya Guimond

CPM, LM

Tawnya is a Certified Professional Midwife and licensed midwife in the state of Idaho. After two incredible home birth experiences under the care of a loving team of midwives, Tawnya began her journey into birth work as a doula, placenta specialist and childbirth and parent educator before expanding her care for birthing people and families to include midwifery in the home birth setting.

Tawnya believes birthing people are strong and capable of making the best decisions for the birth of their baby and should be surrounded by people that also believe in and support those decisions made during pregnancy, birth and postpartum. Through education and unconditional support, her goal is to help create a positive birth experience for families and for them to feel loved and supported throughout their journey into parenthood and beyond. 

She is married to her best friend and they have two sons together. She enjoys spending time with her family and throwing parties as a reason for friends and family to get together.

Metta Weaver,

DNP, APRN, CNM

Metta is a certified nurse midwife, and an advanced practice registered nurse. She was drawn to midwifery after her own home birth experience. She began as a doula and birth assistant, attending home births in the mountains of New Mexico. Metta became a nurse midwife in 2016, after graduating with a master’s degree from Frontier Nursing University. She moved to Boise in 2016 where she has provided out of hospital birth care since becoming licensed. In 2021, Metta completed a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner program, and in 2022 Metta graduated with her Doctorate in Nursing Practice.

Metta is passionate about providing full spectrum, inclusive health care. She prioritizes autonomy and informed consent, and enjoys partnering with clients to create individualized care plans. Metta believes in the power of undisturbed physiologic birth, and that providing family centered care improves outcomes. She is excited to be providing Telehealth visits.

In her free time Metta enjoys traveling, growing exotic plants, spending time with her family, and exploring the many hot springs in our state.
